JourneyDanceTM is a dynamic conscious dance form that combines freestyle and structured movement to inspire you to get out of your mind and into your body.
The JourneyDance Flow leads participants on a ritual journey of physical and emotional transformation. Through breath, sweat and expression, participants gain a palpable experience of themselves as pure powerful energy. In JourneyDance, we dance without mirrors to release judgement of ourselves and others. JourneyDance is not about learning steps, it’s about revealing, recovering and rediscovering our natural intuitive movement. We activate imagination and utilize diverse forms of freestyle improvisational dance to a soundtrack of inspiring and diverse music, creating a barefoot ecstatic celebration of the human spirit.

What is the Journey Dance Flow?
The Journey Dance flow is the sequence of 12 unique rhythms that are presented throughout the duration of the practice. Generally speaking, these themes start off slow and grounded and gradually become more dynamic and fast and then gradually return to a calmer more introspective approach to movement. The pre-recorded music is also arranged to accompany the flow and encourage participants to go deeply into their dance process and experience. Participants are gently guided and encouraged by the JD facilitator throughout the duration of the event.
We get out of our minds and into our bodies. We connect our total surface area with the floor. We release, surrender to the earth, and feel supported. Through the Embodiment Series, we drop deep, trust, and ground ourselves.
We delve into our sensual bodies, awakening the spine and enlivening the fluid body. We discover internal space and enjoy the pleasure of sensation.
We immerse into sensation, exploring new movement potential and taking pleasure in experimentation. We begin opening and flowing into space. Warming the fluids and joints, we open inner landscapes and expand our energies.
We dance our funky, playful self with partners and in community. We experience feelings of confidence and playfulness within, and we invite a vibration of joy. We make exhilarating connections and feel the music in our core.
We are moved and inspired by evocative music. We tell our story to the dance floor in a unique personal expression. Waves of emotion allow us to contact our feeling of nature. We express and release, diving into our ocean of emotion.
We are guided in a dance of shamanic ritual. We access to power through release, purge, and sweat. We clear our mind of negative self-talk. We investigate, release, seek, and find guidance by connecting with our inner shaman and our self-healer.
We make conscious of our desires. The music gives us inspiration. The power of the group movement magnifies the ritual experience with sound and energy, empowering our bodies and elevating our vibration.

Personal, sensual, soft-eyes dance. We feel lusciousness of our bodies and manifest through movement. We bring our desires down into the body with intention, becoming creatively sensual and flowing with total freedom.
We take time to listen to our hearts mystery, to express what is held back. We shift deeper into listening, witnessing the heart's whispers. We come into alignment with our true essence through expressive movement.
You are the prayer, your body, your movement, your breath. We give our attention to the soul's Source presence. We become the moving prayer in connection to self, other, and divine love. We open to oneness.
We descend back into the support of the earth, melting into rest and rejuvenation. We
settle into a state of expanded awareness, connection, and open intuition.

Movement as Spiritual Practice:
Ritual can be as simple as setting an intention or as complex as a staged performance. When we open our dance with a circle, we create ritual space. This allows us to focus our intentions, feel our bodies, connect our voices through sound, and open our hearts.
Ritual allows the freedom to explore and express the self in the safe structure of the dance. Throughout a JourneyDance, mini-rituals are created with imagination ie. building a shamanic fire or embodying our power animal. Facilitators invite participants to form special relationships with their guides and use heightened imagination for a transpersonal altered state experience.
Visualization is the art of using imagery and affirmation to inspire inner and outer change. We visualize specific outcomes to affect change in our lives. We draw from the chakra system which coincides with the elements of nature: earth, water, fire, air and light. Images give the mind a focal point, so the body can find its natural expression and the soul can travel. Far from being just a mental process, creative visualization on the dance floor involves all of the senses to embody change.
Music is the key to opening the doorway of impulse, imagination, creativity and healing. Music has the power to change our moods, states and levels of consciousness. We, as energetic dance facilitators, weave selections of the music of all genres to stimulate different feelings, states of being and styles of moving the body. With musical guidance, we can transform into diverse characters such as warriors, gipsies, or angels. Music can encourage us to clap our hands, sing out, find stillness, cry, laugh and dance. The right music inspires movement from our very own core.
Creativity is the expression of our soul. Imagination is a gateway to creating the life we want. Through dance, we practice taking our inner landscapes of thought and emotion and externalizing them into a physical reality. During a JourneyDance, we have the opportunity to visualize the life we want while moving and bypassing the mind's role of questioning, doubting and negating. The freedom to dance from within and dance with others in improvisational ways awakens the force of creativity and power in all of us.
Affirmations align you with your highest self. It has been proven that our thoughts are powerful; they create our reality, influence healing, change our body and affect our emotional well-being. When we dance and affirm ourselves, we amplify the power of our desired manifestations. Affirmations can uplift us from dark moods and help transform negative self-talk. In JourneyDance, we use the power of movement to raise our consciousness and our vibration.
By releasing stored or stuck emotions, we allow the flow of well-being. By learning how to express our feelings, we can increase our cognitive understanding of relationships and our roles within our complex lives. The release of emotion can allow us out of the cycle of repetitive behaviours and habits of the mind. JourneyDance Facilitators hold the space for expression to be validated without judgement. JourneyDance creates a sacred space to explore what we may normally keep a lid on, stuff down, or express in an unhealthy way through self-sabotaging and abusive behaviour.
By inducing a hypnotic state, we can open to the power of transformation. A hypnotic state occurs when our ordinary awareness is guided to block out stimuli which normally may be distracting. This frees the mind to intently focus on an idea, thought, sound or gesture/movement. In hypnotic states, we can access parts of ourselves that are usually blocked from our conscious awareness and knowing.
