Monthly Sound Journeys
On the first Thursday of each month (May to December)
Time: 7:00-8:30 PM
Cost: Free
Sound has been used for healing and transformation for thousands of years in cultures around the world. Everything in the universe is vibrating in a cosmic symphony. By stilling our minds and learning to observe the vibrations in our bodies and our energy fields, we begin to realize our connection to the primordial OM, the emanation that is singing the world into existence at every moment. Each month we will be exploring different ways of experiencing the vibration within our own being. Sometimes this will include chanting, mantra, or simply receiving the energy of instruments and sound healing devices. The sound journey often leaves people in a state that is conducive to meditation, so participants are welcome to sit and meditate with us at the end of the sound journey.

Kirtan with
Jenika Bronson
We are excited to have Jenika leading evenings of mantra and harmonium. Practicing Mantra Yoga is a wonderful way to raise one’s vibration, create more harmony and synchronicity in one’s life and reconnect with the power of the human voice. Based primarily on the Sanskrit language, traditional mantras have a positive healing and awakening effect on human consciousness and help activate and purify the chakra centers. The word ‘Mantra’ literally translates as “the thought that liberates and protects.” Whether done on an individual basis or in a group kirtan setting, mantra chanting truly generates a vibrant energy field around the chanter raising him or her out of the chatter of the busy mind and into harmony with a higher divine consciousness. Practiced in combination with traditional Hatha yoga, pranayama and meditation, mantra chanting becomes a key into the realms of joy and bliss available through the holistic practice of yoga!
Next Kirtan Date: To be announced
Recommended donation: $15.00. |

Insight Meditation Weekend Retreats
Dates:
June: 8-10th, 2012
July: 13-15th, 2012
August: 10-12th, 2012
Sept: 7-9th, 2012
Cost: $375.00 per person (includes meals and accomodations in a cabin)
In this workshop students will have an opportunity to go deep into their meditation practice. The breath will be our tool and guide us into stillness and equanimity. We will focus on the core teachings |
from the Buddhist tradition, primarily Vispassana or insight meditation. The Vipassana method of meditation is a simple and experience based technique. It's purpose is to help people recognize and move beyond the unconscious patterns in life that cause suffering. The technique can help us to achieve happiness, peace of mind, and long lasting health benefits. Vipassana is the essence of what the Buddha taught and contains nothing of a sectarian nature. So it can be practiced and applied by people of any background. The word Vipassana means "insight" in the ancient Pali language of India. It can also be translated as, "to see things as they really are". Click here to find our more about the Vipassana meditation course and listen to our free meditation CD/MP3.
This workshop includes meditation and some yoga which compliments the practice. Participants will be encouraged to observe their inner energies at all times, practicing noble silence for the weekend. This is a unique opportunity to solidify your meditation practice and to find your inner light.

Meditation, Mantra and Movement Weekend Retreat
June 22-24th, 2012
Cost: $375.00 per person (includes meals and accomodations in a cabin)
Whether our spiritual practice is to sit, sing, or move, our life's journey is to find inner peace and contentment. There are many ways to reach the final goal of awakening while expressing ourselves authentically.
|
In this workshop we will explore Vipassana (insight) meditation techniques to quiet the mind, reach heightened states of awareness, and to liberate us from our conditioned patterns. Observation of the natural breath will be our primary tool to guide us into stillness and equanimity.
We will learn the sacred practice of mantra yoga to free our voices, raise our personal vibration, and create more harmony in our lives. Based primarily on the Sanskrit language, traditional mantras have a positive healing and awakening effect on human consciousness and help activate and purify the chakra centers. The word mantra literally translates as,“the thought that liberates and protects.”
Finally, we will explore physical movement to liberate our inner dancer, become more joyful and more courageous. Far too often we live outside our bodies. To be conscious and fully aware, Spirit must fill our bodies. When we connect to the primal qualities of earth, fire, water and air, we move with the pulse of nature that has driven us for thousands of years. Because there are no steps involved with trance dance, there is no mind and thus no resistance. There is only freedom and great healing as we discover and honour our unique inner dance of life.
By combining the three elements of meditation, mantra, and movement, we cultivate a balance between our masculine stillness (Shiva energy) and our feminine creativity (Shakti energy). This workshop is a rare opportunity to explore some of the sacred paths which, when practiced regularly, can lead to greater peace, harmony, and connectivity to all that is.

- Chakra Yoga Weekend Retreat
July 27-29th, 2012
Includes meals and accomodations in a cabin.
Cost: $375.00 per person
|
In the ancient Hindu philosophy, the word chakra means "wheel" or "disk" and signifies one of seven basic energy centers in the body. In this workshop, we will examine these centres through breathing practices, yoga postures, and by learning their physiological and psychological correlations. |
We will deepen our understanding of how the chakras connect to the elements, how to identify their unique strengths and imbalances in our minds and bodies, and what to do to overcome these imbalances. Participants will learn how to identify their own major and minor chakras (a form of yantra yoga based on a person's birthdate) to better understand themselves and their archetypes.
Modalities of exploration of the seven centers will include: asanas, pranayama, meditation, mantra and yantra yoga, dance, journal writing, lectures, presentations, and more. By understanding the chakra system as a science as well as spiritual journey toward greater awareness, we deepen our knowledge of yoga and we provide an important tool for personal and global transformation.

Sacred Sound Immersion Weekend Retreat
August 24-26th, 2012
Cost: $375.00 per person (includes meals and accomodations in a cabin)
Everything in the Universe is made of subtle, resonating frequencies. Our bodies are made of condensed energy which may or may not be vibrating optimally. When the body is vibrated at the right frequency with the right intention, healing occurs. In this workshop we will explore sound |
generated through breath, voice and instruments. We will experience practices that will still the mind, stimulate the body and free the voice. Through vocalization we will explore the vowel sounds of the seven chakras as well as the sanskrit musical scales. Presentations on cymatics, sacred geometry, fractal geometry and the ancient Samkaya cosmogony will further our understanding of sound as emanating from the Source that moves us into being. Original chants will be used to enhance and deepen the sound immersion experience (check out our website www.spiritlegend.com to hear some of our sacred sound journeys and recordings). Peruvian whistling vessels and other sacred instruments (didgeridoos, drums, tuning forks, gongs, tanpura etc.) will also be used to connect with Spirit, which is our inner vibratory nature.
Whether you are experienced in nada yoga (yoga of sound), or a beginner to this wonderful practice, this workshop will offer you a unique opportunity to delve more deeply into your persoanl practice.
